I would go with a good controller that has VDJ support. Like the Terminal Mix 4 or Numark N4.
Both support VDJ and have excellent jogwheels, which are bigger and more responsive than any CDJ I know.

Honestly, I’d go with Traktor or Serato software if you’re planning on using CDJs as controllers. With Traktor you can download software to make CDJs compatible with it. I started with VDJ and IDJ3(cracked) but then upgraded to Traktor Pro 2 S2(abbut $500) (paid). So I use controllers with smaller gigs but in the clubs (most usually have CDJs) I just take my laptop and plug it in!

Thanks for the advice! I definately like the N4 specs seem phenomenal.

I do like the N4 definitely considering it, but I saw the video for the DDJ-SX and that looks incredible. I love the idea of the performance pads just wish there was a cheaper controller that had them

The novation twitch has performance pads, so does the Vestax VCI-400.
But for both I would also rather use Serato DJ as this is a really good fit for those controllers.
