My next option is the n4 which is probs the best affordable option that gives me a load of features, 4 channel mixer and more output future options! What do you guys think?

it is good but not pro material.of course you can gig with it but you should be careful due to the plastic construction.i still recommend the tm4.

Thanks for the feedback, How I like the sound of 4 decks I don’t think I will use these that much.. I just like to mix tracks but can see in the future how 4 can be useful, any more suggestions on controllers I can look at both 2 and 4 deck based limit around £350!

I have a list of ones I’ve found that are an improvement on my current controller and what I feel could get me going for a year or maybe 2 please let me know what you guys think about these controllers!

Stanton DJC.4 – Considering
Reloop Jockey 2 – Don’t know
Denon MC3000 – Not sure, more traktor havent tried it yet..
American Audio VMS4.1 – Very interested, considering

So far N4 still preferred choice.. please any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Reloop DJ3 ME was lovely when I had it.

And now have the S2 now.

Both are good, but again, Traktor.

American Audio VMS4.1 after careful thought isn’t on the same wave length as the N4 so will try order one up when I have the funds, The Staton isnt really what I’d go for odd sort of layout, as for the Jockey I dont like the look of it and still considering the Denon its really a 2 way race between N4 and MC3000 one I think the N4 will win at!

So for the battle of £300 its now down to MC3000 from Denon or Numark N4, what does anyone think? This is my last comparison both have what it takes with the Denon being potentially a 4 deck mixer with outputs aswell…

Denon MC3000 OR Numark N4 are my choices under £300 what do you guys think? N4 is better suited to me because of the standalone mixer capability.

I use my TM2 for 4 channels in VDJ and Traktor without any problems, granted you need to switch from decks A to C and B to D so only have two sets of eqs and transport controls available at any one time but with a bit of practice it is completley doable. I just use the tm4 mappings in VDJ.

Not sure if this is allowed but my TM2 (6 months old) may be up for sale as I have been treated by himindoors to a cdj 900/djm 850 set up for my birthday so it has become surplus to requirements.

the n4 is a nice step forward from the hercules. continue exercising on traditional dj techniques and you will be able to perform on the industry standards in no time.

I think its a good choice so lets hope in around 6/8 months time I will be gigging with it, should arrive by tomorrow lets hope! I got a good deal on one that was a customer demo used once so still has the peel able plastic on which I intend on keeping on! Now my next decision is software.. Serato or VDJ..

cough Traktor!

I have moved from VDJ to Traktor and currently like it better. However when VDJ 8 comes out I will give it a try.

I cannot comment on Serator as I have never used it.

Well I have used both extensively (actually all 3: Traktor, Serato, VDJ) and can say this:

VDJ Pro: Extremely powerful and can do more than most DJ software. However you have to be really into the software and how to tune it to make it work for you. Now there are some great tutorials etc. It is not the software for you, if you just want to go out and play.

Serato DJ: Plug and play. Extremely nice software that will just work. Your controller will be perfectly mapped and everything has an excellent quality. So if you want the easiest setup and just get it to work, no hassle and all features, this is for you.

Traktor: Traktor does things differently a lot of times. Some people like that and some do not. You have to know more about mapping and doing things in Traktor if you want to tune it. However it is a very powerful software and has some features (macro effects, remix decks) that others do not, but you need special things or hardware to access those features. So if these features are important to you, get it.

I have learnt to dj on VDJ so know it well and it does the job well but for my controller Serato is seamless and seems to work also auto its a very easy software to use as you mention Terry and is fast becoming my fave software and for £89 to upgrade serato intro I think its worth it to unleash the full power of my controller!

I purchased the full version of Serato today but its not compatible with the N4 till winter 2013 apparently :/ Its almost summer so when must they mean? Otherwise i’ve wasted money and cant use my controller, any help will be most appreciated 🙂

Actually winter for them is just beginning. Serato is in NZ aka south hemisphere and their winter is just beginning, so it should not be too long. They added 2-3 controllers per month now every month. So my guess would be latest June the N4 should get it.
But you can always write to support@serato.com if they have a more specific date set.

I am sorry for any confusion I thought they had N4 support already when they released 1.0.2 short time ago and added the 380.
