On the speaker bit. You might want to look at the LD Systems Dave or HK Audio Nano setups. Smaller subs with small satellites. VERY handy in tighter spaces (like house parties, family gatherings) while at the same time packing a punch and bringing a volume level that belies their format. Also easy to pack up and transport (even in regular cars). If you go for the Nano, spend the extra money on the 600 though. There is also a similar setup from Proel, but I don’t know if this brand is available in your neck of the woods.

If you don’t want to go this road, pretty much any set of active 12’s or 15’s will do. If you plan on adding a sub, my choice would be 12s and not wait to long with the sub. Otherwise the 15s will have a bit more low end. With PA speakers the rule is REALLY simple. You get what you pay for. So low end gets you great specs on paper (2000W power … which turns out to be in 500W RMS and things like that), but neither the drivers or build quality (amp quality, crossover, enclosure) that the more expensive brands put into their R&D. One of the things that a lot of R&D money goes into is measuring enclosures and matching components. Not something you can see from the outside, but what makes the difference between a great sounding speaker and something that merely produces (somewhat) loud sounds.

    My two cents as always.

On the controller front: I am not sure what features you are missing exactly. The MT is a good controller, but you could move up to the MC4000 (3000 no longer available) with the MC6000mk2 also in budget range, DDJ-SR, Terminal Mix2 2 or 4, to name a few. But it really depends on software and workflow really. Number of decks/channels you want, stuff like that.
