    Again the old discussion…

Apart from being able to play different media and not having to use a laptop, there is not a single advantage to a CDJ System over a controller. In fact you can do much more in software than with CDJs.

If you like the basic mixing setup of CDJs you can always go for something like the DDJ-SX from Pioneer. It has the same (or I think even better) jogs than CDJs, has more sample and F/X possibilities and much easier song preparation than in rekordbox. You will still be familiar with the basic CDJs mixing layout if you ever come across one in a club.

There is not a single club I have seen (even in places like Ibiza or Monte Carlo) where they even have 2000 Nexus mixers. Most settle for the 900s and possibly 2k Nexus CDJs. (I still bring my controller as I have more options…)

Now there are some features why some might consider CDJs (playing CDs for example) but none of them mandatory for a DJ.

I have to say when I sold my last CDJs and mixer (ok I still have some old gear, but it is sitting in the basement) I always considered going fully digital an upgrade… for less money.
