I don’t see how getting a Macbook is gonna make working with CDJs easier, apart from having the software to use (so library stuff and some visual feedback is there). First off I don’t think the transition is gonna be that big. You will have to prepare differently obviously. Getting some lessons in a safe environment of a DJ school or something is always a good idea before being confronted with new gear in a live situation.

    Hope that helps.

I actually always bring my MBP to gigs with CDJ2000s (mostly Nexus models). I run Cross and bring two USB cables and my active hub. Plug in the CDJs and use the CDJ2000s as controllers in HID mode. Works like a charm.
It’s like using the CDJs stand-alone but with a bonus. Hardest part will probably be not having 4 decks option (unless you have 4 CDJs 😀 ) and using the FX on the mixer (bit different from the way it’s implemented on controllers, but certainly doable). Still, having the option to practice setting up and getting familiar with the gear is nice, if you have that option.

I would simply use my controller. Yes the SX is big, but still should be able to cramp it in most booths.

You could just buy a regular laptop.. You don’t need a macbook…
