First advice is: is the vinyl you own so special there isn’t a digital version around anywhere?

Ripping vinyl is time-consuming. Considering that the actual recording is real-time (plus the time to switch to the flip side) and once recorded it may take some serious manual labor getting rid of all the noises (ticks, clicks, etx.).

Essentially any turntable would do, but it would be easier to have one that has a DJ stylus, steady rotation speed and probably a pre-amp built-in so you can go from line out to line in, rather than from phono with the need for a separate pre-amp.

There is plenty of gear and software around. Check some of the recent articles on these forums on the subject.

Essentially you want to rip to WAV, do all your post-ripping work to the raw WAV, then do all your regular prep work and at the latest possible moment compress it to 320MP3 or 256AAC.

Or Flac, or keep it in WAV depending on what files you use for your digital library. If you need an audio converter because you use a non standard audio format, a company called Freemake does a dedicated audio converter which should handle that process if you need it. In which case, I would say export to WAV or Flac, then convert that to your file type of choice.

    Thanks for the replies.

Indeed – most of the vinyl is 91 to 94 so already digital availability is in short supply of these items specifically.
