This was the case with the first version of TP2 but they fixed that in the first patch. You can use a different style of BPM display, i think its called ‘stable bpm’. As it states, its a lot more stable.

Its not quite plug and play, you’ll need to set the second X1 to control C & D in the preferences, but its dead easy.

    Thanks. 😎

Ahh interesting, has this been updated in the demo? If so how do i go about changing it to ‘stable’ as i will give it a go!

Sorry mate, ive got no idea if it made it into the demo.
The way you specify it is in the settings panel where you setup what you want shown on the track deck.
I dont have Tpro infront of me at the mo but it looks like a big grid of drop down boxes, probably in deck preferences. Just drop down the BPM list and select stable BPM.

I am also still on Traktor Pro 1.2.7 even after playing around with Traktor Pro 2. I just wasn’t impressed. At first it was very buggy and several of the first users on the NI forums felt like they were being used as guinea pigs. Perhaps they’ve fixed some of them since, but I’ll still wait for a few more patches before committing to an upgrade.

Also, like Liambo, if I want samples and loops, I just use one of the available decks in 1.2.7. I find the waverforms to be distracting more than anything…just another reason to stare at the screen tho I realize many prefer this function. Frankly, as a techno / house DJ, what I have now just works and I haven’t found anything in TP2 that I can’t do in TP 1.2.7.

“Stable BPM” is that for tracks that were not BPM’d prior to being added to TP?
(Look’s like I’m going to need the new Traktor Bible)

Nope, it takes the actual BPM that fluctuates loads in the deck view and averages it out so its more readable. You’ll still get a +/- 0.4 BPM fluctuation on any turntable though, that is the nature of the beast.

So then it’s really just for Traktor Scratch users?

No, no. Sorry, that was a response to liambo about the BPM readout being all over the shop. This used to happen in traktor 2 with turntables on timecode. It doesnt relate to the X1 controller in any way. I would happily DJ with 2 X1’s, a mixer and no timecode if necessary.

Im aware of the whole fluctuation thing and know fine that BPM will never be stable, and i don’t need it to be stable as i come from a vinyl background so im used to ‘adjusting’ all the time. I just found it irritating that it fluctuates up and down more than it does in TSP1.. Catches my eye too much when selecting songs and looking at time etc. 🙂

Which is exactly how I use Traktor Pro. 🙂

I’m still on Traktor 1.2.7, though at the moment I’m using 2 decks mainly and would only use decks 3/4 for samples, so traktor 2 appeals to me for grabbing loops on the fly rather than pre arranging them into a file. However, with upgrade around £60 it is a bit much. However, I’m trying to sell my Xone 92 mixer to fund the S4 and so hope to upgrade free that way.

To answer the original question which has prob been done loads but thought I would still :p, yes you can use 4 track decks 4 sample decks or a combo of the 2 , 2 x1’s or even 10 can be used.

The new features like coloured wave forms are a lot better to see whats happening they make audio changes a lot clearer and I didnt even notice the differnce untill going back to traktor 1 two days back, the yellow just looks messy.

The loop recorder can be a nice addition, I personally only use two decks due to screen size so its nice to be able to throw a loop in the recorder and let it play then play two new songs.

Sample decks Ive only really played with, waiting for a bigger laptop to try these out proper but they look like it could be fun, some ableton like shiz making mashups.

As far as the new effects go they are not that great but some people might find a use for them.

The user interface is a nice richer looking colour and looks a lot more professional.

As for analizing tracks, traktor 2 after the first update does a lot better job then traktor 1 it gets the first beat off sometimes which soo many peoplemoan about but to fix that all you need to do is set a load point.

Hope this helps in peoples decisions, regards, Steven.
