what would you like the new controller to control?

have you considered a midi fighter?

Depends on what you want to achieve. There’s the Kontrol X1 / F1, midi fighter as said above, lpd8, korg nano series and it goes on. Personally I’d go for the first two for dedicated triggering effects and samples.

I am either looking to gain more control over fx/samples/cue points, create fills or to be able to control decks C and D in Traktor Pro 2. I like the look of the X1 but you can do everything the X1 offers on the S2 by the looks of it? Unless using it as a controller for the other decks. The Midi Fighter looks great, have you got any practical experience with it?

I own a midi fighter and its a pretty good controller, depending on how you map it. I currently have it mapped so chaining effects is super easy and fun. The buttons will take a beating too. The X1 sounds more suitable for your needs though. Its designed to do exactly what you’re after. The F1 looks like a great toy for samples and such.

I have the vestax pad one to control cue ponts, effects loops etc; You can do CC for additional possibilities as well. I also have the maschine mikro which I use as live input in deck D which adds a great deal more control.

I am highly interesting in getting an X1 for controlling a track deck in C and D. Having pictured this in great detail though, it’s dawned on me that my S2 only has mixing controls for 2 channels. Is there any known workaround to this that could help me gain mixing control over the additional 2 new channels?

    Cheers for the advice

manually assign deck c& d to the crossfader in traktor or asign 2 of the x1 knobs to control the volume for deck C&D

I also recommend the Kontrol X1 – relatively easy to learn and simple to carry around! shouldn’t add too extra weight to your S2
