I always use ladder…Ladder has a lot of resonance while Xone has like ZERO resonance…and really filter sweeps should have resonance. As well the Ladder EQ i find increases the high pass or lo pass while the Xone just cuts out the high or lows.

I use the ladder cause the lack of resonance in the Xone just sounds really dull. The ladder filter has way too much resonance in my opinion though. I really wish they would add a “Pioneer” filter which would be a happy medium.

Really the only time I use filters is during mixing and the Ladder’s volume increase when you start cutting annoyed the hell out of me so I’ve been using Xone since then.

Interestingly has anyone else picked up on the ladder filter is slightly different between Traktor 2 and 2.5? I much prefer the ramp curve on TP2, 2.5’s seems to be more sharp.

I wasn’t sure if I imagined a difference or not but it does feel like it goes from nothing to pretty full on all of a sudden.

Cheers Steelo, you put it much better than me, this is exactly what I think. It certainly doens’t seem as smooth at TP2.

I found Filter92 in single mode with resonance to 95% sound nice. This both of mixer filters have leak of resonance, it should be fixed a long time ago by adding another knob next to filters.

if you are using traktor you should “jack” it into a DAW and use the free vst “quad byte filter”. The resonance is selectable and actually sounds good (amazing) and it’s not tinny at all, and the lfo is stupidly powerful letting you choose the speed, shape, phase, size, start and end of the oscillation… like I said stupidly powerful.

There is always VDJ Pro & Torq which host vst’s natively.
