MemberTrance better not dominate the whole top 10 again because as far as im aware house/tech-house has dominated the likes of Ibiza, UK, Germany and Holland etc this year..
1. Chris Lake
2. Pete Tong
3. Carl Cox
4. Roger Sanchez
5. Tom NovyAll decided on who i enjoy watching as a DJ performance, song selection and crowd interaction.
*This all may change*

MemberI am Disgusted that Adam Beyer is not in the Top 100; as He is my Choice after ‘Tomorrowland 2011’;
And if Buuren Wins Again; Considering he has been Stuck in the Same Genre since he Started; then it is Fixed;August 3, 2011 at 8:07 pm #5128D-Jam
ParticipantI usually ignore this, and I might write a rant on my blog as to why people need to stop making a big deal out of this list.
Every year it’s the same thing, the list comes out and the same 10 names are somewhere in the top 15. Then we see a bevy of people griping and complaining to death about how that chart never highlights the newest and brightest talent. Blah blah blah. Then Resident Advisor comes up with their own list of DJs most people (except that clique) haven’t ever heard of. Usual story.
Hey…guess what? Most of the people voting in these polls are not DJs. They’re not even people who are deep into the music like we are. They’re clubbers who really only go out for booths/bottles/attention or for some massive name DJ…the very guys who normally are in the top 15.
Maybe instead of people griping why their favorite guy didn’t make the top 10, they should praise that he/she got into the list with the bazillion other DJs out there…and if the guy didn’t even get into the list. WHO CARES?
I don’t think people who supported said DJ will stop supporting him/her just because he/she didn’t get into the list.
Ok, there’s the gist of the blog I will write now. Thoughts collected…carry on.

Excellent Posting on your Site D-Jam :);
You Definitely Are an Exceptional Writer :cool:;
I used to Religiously Buy DJ Mag (but Mainly for the CD on the Front to be Truthful); but that was Eons Ago;
You are Correct; and it is ‘Just A Matter Of Choice’;
If it were DJ’s who were Voting each year; we would Probably see a Different List; but a List where They would get a Winner one year (because of some Stomping Gigs); but for that DJ Never to Appear again;
I will Withdraw my Rant about Adam Beyer; but I have Two Live Sets from him; One from 1988 and One from 2011; and they are Both Amazing; however; I have decided that this List is Not Really Relevant 🙂August 3, 2011 at 11:45 pm #1001270mr_john
MemberI’m laughing yet really angry at the same time at how many votes “DJ Pauly D” is getting from the people who watch jersey shore, at least on the american top dj list. All in all these things are just popularity contests. I only voted for the ones who’ve influenced/inspired me the most.

ParticipantMy only feeling about DJs not appearing in such lists will mean that club promoters will look at the list and book the same old and there by perpetuating the problem, – its why I think the list is in a rut. I’ve even noticed Pete Tong radio show is much the same old – hardly a week goes by where there is n’t a track by sweedish moose mafia, afrojack or avicii or the likes there of. Its the same old keeping the same old going, locking things up to make more money.

ParticipantI hear you Haroon, but to me this is why the rave and underground scene is what it is. These are the people who are passionate about new stuff and book the guys who they think are the true talent.
For the rest of the world, it’s all about dollars and cents. It’s tough sometimes for music lovers to swallow, but it’s the reality. One doesn’t book Pete Tong, Max Graham, or even Pauly D because they think they are talented…they book them to bring out a massive crowd that will buy alcohol.
This is the music industry. Go to the smaller spots like Smartbar in Chicago and you’ll see the music pushed. However, one has to do a lot and even “water down” their sound a bit to pack thousands into a venue in the US. To their credit, SHM, Afrojack, and Avicii are relatively new names compared to Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox.
It’s very very hard to go from absolute nobody to superstar…usually it comes when the guy has been in the game 10-20 years and has never stopped pushing to grow.

MemberI really dont get how this is voted for the top ten pffftt with the exception of pvd altho this year should be interesting what with the way dance music has gone in the last year i reckon there’ll be a heavy dubstep presence in this year’s vote :p besides if it was anything worthy it would be MAGDA number 1 everytime 🙂

MemberI honestly can’t believe that Diplo and A track aren’t on there somewhere – especially Diplo. I usually don’t put stock in these things though because of how splintered genres in music have become it’s hard to really create a top 100 in anything anymore.

MemberI cant believe anyone can be bothered voting, to be honest?
Hero / dj worship? It’s all just a little bit sad really isn’t it? None of em are gonna cure cancer or further the endeavours of mankind
