    Well there are 2 things you can do:

    1. You look into her request and check out some Deep House, Belearic, Lounge songs that still get you moving and excited and if you feel like it, take the job and go for it.

    2. You can tell her: Well that is the style of music I play what can we do to accommodate that and do you feel that I need to alter it? If she still insists and you are defining your style, you can still say you are sorry, but you do not play that style of music.

    Mixed message here: “I’m looking for the next David Guetta” but doesn’t want you to play dance music or remixes? I’d say Minimal at around 120 BPM or maybe ambient (???). Back when Jungle was popular some clubs had a side room with Ambient for people to chill out for awhile from the main dance floor.

    What sort of vibes you getting from that “other room” what is it purpose? Might be a good idea to check it out before your gig and see what other DJ’s playin and you can try to feel the vibes from that “other room”

    it’s a new thing they’re trying. It’s not actually in another room. There’s a floor which is the main nightclub part of the venue and the actual DJ is on the main dance floor. However, I’ll be at the other end of the room, basically playing to people who are just sitting having drinks, there isn’t really much of a dance floor where I am.

    I think I’ll take the gig anyway and see how it goes. Might as well give it a shot!

    They do know that sound will mix somewhere right?

    I’d either go see what they already do in that room, or just ask what they have heard that they feel will “fit” in there.
