I feel you there sir. When Gucci was REALLY hot, of course ‘I think I love her…’ was the peak of the partyThats whats up! I still play I think I love her, thats my song lol. Recently, on some nights, i get a lot of requests for Rick Ross from guys and girls.

See what I’m saying:
Those Hard Songs ( Example, Take some Ballin (Jeezy and Lil Wayne), Loop that a couple of times, blend in some Grove street instrumental by dropping the bass out of the Ballin, cut the beat with ‘I got a whole lotta money…’ from the song let it play… Floor will get buck wild; Same blend style with bust that head with some Ace hood – Hustle hard remix…and if you keep hitting them, hit ’em with Some Kinfolk Thugs – Dump Truck’) That 70 or 140 BPM range. As long as it has plenty of Bottom, you keep the girls on the floor and the dudes are happy….
…then just Echo it out with some Mystikal – Here I go. (<– Please don't slip on this track! it's so hot it does not matter if it does not blend…). That is about 12 minutes of just DAMN….Now if you doin it.
cool thing about that Those HARD songs when your floor gets jumping: the proverbial mix is gone when you are hitting with those heaters…and the crowd is chanting with your music. As long as the crowd is moving….

ParticipantThing is, I’m somewhat of a hip-hop purist myself lol .
Huge fan of 2pac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg – basically 90s hip hop. Favorite artists today are Jay-Z, Kanye, Eminem, and Lupe – so there’s only so ghetto I’m willing to goJuly 19, 2011 at 9:05 pm #1001119DJ Loso

Your favorite artist you mentioned, some came from the ghetto, which I dont understand that comment. Music is universal, wether it is house, pop, r&b , etc.

ParticipantI agree, but sometimes I just can’t bring myself to play songs like “make it rain” by travis porter

MemberWhen mixing hip hop, i tend to loop a whole bunch, making the track mix friendly. But i always keep in mind, that if there’s a track i really want to play but it just ‘doesn’t fit’ then i put it aside, cuz chances are theres gna be a later tune i can easily mix it into. Just like all genres, study your library. KNOW where ‘everything’ is. Have your tunes pre-prepped if you need to…i.e. cues, cues to loops.buildups.outros..etc… Here’s a hiphop demo i put together, notice i jumped to certain spots in the song to make it ‘mixable’, or i looped certain lyrics.. =]

I understand where you are coming from. Im from the east coast, which currently I live out west.It took me sometime to bring myself to playing west coast artists such as e-40, too short, etc. Not a huge fan of e-40, or rejects whom made the song cat daddy, but i still play it.

I completely agree, but if your crowd wants it, you GOTTA play it. I Absolutely LOVE 90’s hip-hop (Mc Lyte, Audio 2, KRS-1, Lords of the Underground) but if folks want the Boom bottom, you GOTTA play it…

I hear ya. In the beginning, I attempted avoiding certain songs. Yet, when people request it, you have to give in…unless you make it strictly an underground hip-hop night or something like that. I play “make it rain” because I know women dance to it.
