Hi, I moved your question to it’s own post. Please dont’t “hijack” other posts by putting a new question or topic in your reply.
Second, if you want my honest opinion? Bring your SX (a very nice and pro level controller) to the venue! I am playing tomorrow night (needless to say a paid gig) and I am most definitely bringing my controller (even if they had CDJ-2000s on offer instead of a CDJ-400 setup LOL).
If you decide to go for RekordBox and the CDJs anyway, I’d just format two USB-sticks and put my stuff on there. You will have plenty of stress being in a new environment, with new gear, not to add to the mix by trying to get a PC working (it needs some network connections I believe) with that gear.
I am a Mixvibes Cross user, so when I can’t for some reason bring my SX and they have CDJ-2000s, I bring two usb cables and hook the 2000s both up to my laptop and use them in HID mode with my Cross DJ Software. Not sure if/how that will work with your DJ software.
Finally, my best piece of advice today is to never try something you haven’t tested in the safety of your home or in an empty venue way before the guests come in!
Ask yourself, when will you be able to do your best job? With your own laptop, DJ software and SX or by going in with RekordBox (really nothing more than track management) and trying to hook all kinds of stuff up to unknown CDJs and mixer?
