most fashion shows and fashion lines have a theme… so try to match the theme and feel.. when dj’n events like this (and i’ve done my fair share) its important to remeber youre not on stage to rock a party… your there as a audio backdrop to add to the show… so dont worry about tricks n scratches or effects or mixes with dramatic drops…
also… instrumentals are vital… vocals will clash with the shows mc.. whos there to present the event and sell the product… so if they request something special do your best to find an instrumental version…
ask ALOT of questions prior to the event to discuss the line up and timeline.. make a cheat sheet if you need so you can make sur ethe soundtrack works with the action on stage… use loops if you have to to extend sections of tracks that are pertinant to the show… for example… i did a fashion show a few years back… and i looped the intro to rihannas “dysterbia” because the vocal fit the show…but the rest of the track would have ruined the “soundscape”
