Yeah there is certainly a trend visible towards integrating streaming audio services into DJ software. I think it’s a nice gimmick for requests or to play some dinner-time background music. I have been involved in WiFi since it came out and to this day I would not want to have a mission-critical application (like DJ software) depending on a wifi connection.
Furthermore it’s considered good practice to have your DJ PC stripped to bare metal and have all non-essentials processes stopped whilst playing. This includes any network traffic imho.
So, while I can see some pleasure in this, I for one am not on the barriers to sell or embrace the concept.
I did download the update and played with the other new things for a bit earlier. And although DJAY2 is still a ways up from version 1 (which frankly I thought totally s*cked), there are too many things I don’t like about it that prevent me from using it with my iDJ Pro.
