Yeah there is certainly a trend visible towards integrating streaming audio services into DJ software. I think it’s a nice gimmick for requests or to play some dinner-time background music. I have been involved in WiFi since it came out and to this day I would not want to have a mission-critical application (like DJ software) depending on a wifi connection.

Furthermore it’s considered good practice to have your DJ PC stripped to bare metal and have all non-essentials processes stopped whilst playing. This includes any network traffic imho.

So, while I can see some pleasure in this, I for one am not on the barriers to sell or embrace the concept.

I did download the update and played with the other new things for a bit earlier. And although DJAY2 is still a ways up from version 1 (which frankly I thought totally s*cked), there are too many things I don’t like about it that prevent me from using it with my iDJ Pro.

    Greetinx.

BTW … DJ Player (which IS what I use on my iDJ Pro) has Deezer support, to prove the point about a visible trend.

I would take that into: Kinda nice, but not really the burner or hype thing.

Of course it will have crazy potential in the DJ wannabee or the “I am the DJ one time for that kids party” thing… where someone will put the thing on autoplay or slam tracks together for a trainwreck event, where they could have used the standard spotify app and put it on autoplay… I see a big market there.
