Interesting but I think very inaccurate.

If you also watch the gallery in the article you get some more detailed information about the DJs.
    For example:

Despite his young age, (he’s only 23), Avicii is one of the most popular and highest earning DJs in the world today. He charges $75,000 for a one hour set and that doesn’t include transportation, food and hotels. He is currently the 6th highest rated on DJ Magazine’s top 100.

I don’t know if those numbers are accurate, but I dont think they just made them up.

Does all that money provide happiness? course it does..

There must be quite a lot of pressure to provide a certain level of entertainment with regards to what you spin. I doubt there is much room to be left field in your selection if your known as a commercial trance DJ. Would frustrate the hell out of me!

There is no way that is totally accurate.

This list seems legit to me. I’m not sure why anyone would think otherwise. These are all superstar DJs, many of them have been around for years and also own record labels. Electronic music (trance in particular) is absolutely massive in much of Europe and Asia.

Indeed, I don’t mind a bit of trance at all and you’re right to point out how big it is. The big boys of trance all have a huge worldwide radio prescence, Armin’s ASOT goes out to dozens and dozens of countries on FM alone, not to mention online radio stations. He’s also got a massive empire of a record label. And as you say many of the top 15 have been there from the start back in the mid-late 80s and are still at the pinnacle so I suppose they’ve picked up the odd pay packet along the way. I’m surprised by a couple of entries who are relative newcomers on the block but I guess a big tune or two gets you lucrative remix work and a lot of royalties, also the big rise in popularity of certain forms of dance music in the US has helped, as the market is obviously huge.

It seems pretty spot on to me…
Of course the older guys are top, and guys like Sasha, Digweed, PVD and co. have been earning huge $ in Europe/Australia/Asia for 15+ years.

Plus they were around when the commercial mix CD market was huge and piracy wasn’t everywhere. Makes a huge difference, look at the amount of labels that have died in the last decade, even the big ‘uns.
