Best option is to start DJ-ing for friends and family. Birthday parties, pool parties, house parties. Any reason to have a party with a DJ is good. Because the one thing you haven’t learned DJ-ing in your bedroom is the essential skill of “knowing what must come next”. Not your fault, it can only be learned when playing live in front of an audience.
Once you have done a few of those parties (and people have seen you DJ) you might actually start getting some requests to play at other people’s parties, people outside of the original circle. And you will feel confident enough to go to local bars (disco’s might still be a step too far up the ladder) and offer to play on one of their slow nights.
Eventually being out there, interacting with people that are (somewhat) in the scene will get you noticed.
More importantly you will no longer be a bedroom DJ but someone actually getting up and out in front of an audience (regardless of the size).
