As said before, we always suggest iTunes as collection management software, it gives more flexibility if you want to use other DJ software as well.

That said, Music Match is not an option imho.

I am not quite sure if you can easily sync two RekordBox installs on two different machines. Perhaps some of the other readers can help you with that one.

As for your laptop, Powerbook is non-Intel and last model produced in 2006. Not sure, but I can easily see loads of problems with DJ software and controllers.

    How I do it:
Copy your “music” folder from mac to macbook.
Since the Library.xml should be in your music folder, it should also sync your playlists…
If not export your music.xml from the file menu and import on laptop.

    Thanks for the tips!
I decided to stick with Traktor after all.
I manage my music through iTunes and will import into Traktor.
Then I’ll copy over playlists I want on my laptop into iTunes and import into Traktor there as well.
    At least that’s the plan.

I’m going to try the method explained here:

The article is 2.5 years old so hopefully there’s no major changes in technology since then that will effect the process.

Always open to suggestions if you have any!

    Cheers

You could think of the sync as one-way, so that on your laptop you get the files and do all the metadata (grid) et rest arrangement on this side, this by exporting the iTunes playlist/files into your own Traktor playlist. But yes, you can’t sync back the changes to iTunes, you need to copy the whole playlist via an USB stick or something similar to other devices in case you need the info on those. Basically I collect the material I play on my main laptop and save it off to an USB stick (the playlists NML file and files) and this way keep the data intact.
