what is this going to be used for? You need to provide more information if you want us to help.

What software are you going to be running? Traktor does not allow multiple soundcards to be used at once without doing some crazy ass internal routing…VDJ will allow it but its a pain in the butt. Honestly for the headaches you are going to get…it is better to just spend 100 bucks on a proper DJing audio card.

As I said, I am just starting out. As such, I am looking for something that will allow me to practice at home, but perhaps be used when playing out as well (even if it is only for 1-2 gigs).

I would be using Virtual DJ.

I am still in the stage where I am learning, therefore spending the money that you suggest is not an option as of yet.

I suppose I was not as clear as I should have been in the post.

    Thanks.

USB soundcards are all I can think about, the other ones go $60+

Yeah, I was thinking I might pull the trigger on the Traktor 2. That way, I can play around with Traktor. It’s more than I wanted to spend, but as Hee suggested, perhaps I can sell it if it does not work for me.

Would you say this will do for me okay? I mean, the Traktor 4 is a bit pricey. And by a bit, I mean a lot.

    Thanks for your reply.

Numark DJ I/O which is the best for beginners along with the Traktor Audio 2
    Behringer UCA222
    Reloop Play
    Novation Nio
    ESI Gigaport HD
    MixVibes Umix 44
    And so on………
Some are pricier some are cheaper. just take a look

Thanks, jalou. I will have to keep that in mind. I like the idea of not having to use drivers.

In the end, I was able to pick up a used Traktor audio 4 used from a fellow DJ for super cheap (almost half my pricepoint). Also, the mixer/controller I ended up buying has a built in soundcard. So I am covered for on the go and in house for now.

That being said, crap happens. Good to have the knowledge for a rainy day. And hope it doesn’t rain…
