I know the feeling. I got booked for my first proper paid night and ‘trial’ for a residency along with a few other Dj’s that week in Durham, and it nailed it down with snow, and the club closed for my night and I didnt get another chance.

All my gigs come from friends events, and college events at uni. Just keep networking and eventually something will open up. I play a boat party every so often which just came from me chatting to the guy who usually DJ’s and one night he couldnt do it so sent me a text

It’s hard man but I feel you 100%

Last year I got my dream first gig of opening up for my fave dj, I thought I’d be good after that one gig. Needless to say I’ve done nothing but a few patio jams over the summer since. I honestly think in this business you have to be relentless in the prusuit of getting gigs until people really know who you are. Never give up and keep pushing, eventually we’ll get a break and that’s when we show em what we’ve got.

Just hang in there. Even take a break if you feel demotivated and do not try to do it by all means necessary… I know this sounds odd, but hang back, be more in balance with yourself and opportunities eventually will come up.

I don’t know if I feel demotivated as such. I’m still enjoying my mixing which is good. I’m just abit worried that in the long run, it could all be for nothing. Now I understand that everybody ins’t guna become an overnight superstar, but I’m confident enough in my ability to think I could hold down a decent set on a night, it’s just getting the opportunity.

I’m potentially moving down to Leeds next summer, I’m hoping that down there I can just be straight up with promoters etc and tell them how it is “I’m a DJ, heres my mixtape, enjoy”

Did you look in to what I told you and the guys about last Sunday? I contacted the company and should be signing up next week and will be doing a regular radio show soon after. It hard and can be spirit sapping but if you really want something don’t give up. There may still be some spots free but they going fast. I’ll give you more info on Sunday. Another DJ I know has just signed up and starts his show next Saturday and TBH we’re both excited about what the future will bring.
