Participant- You need to relax, first tell us what kind of controller and software you’re using.
- Next go to youtube if you can and watch what other djs do with their controllers to get you confidence back up.
- After that continue on youtube and learn to use cdjs.
- I’m sure digitaldjtips has a forum that teaches you techniques on how to use cdjs
- Another thing, is it mandatory that you have to use the CDJ’s?
- Lastly don’t ever doubt yourself as a dj, I’ve been told by very few people (wannabe djs, jealous djs, haters) that I’m wack. It’s human nature and people will try to belittle/criticize you and make you feel that you can’t dj only to make themselves feel better. You can’t let that get to you because this may be you one and only fair chance at showing people you’re that damn good(Hopefully you are that damn good).
- I’ve had tons of people tell me I’m good at djing (Real Djs, clients, friends, promoters and managers) you just have to keep that in mind and let it guide you.

I use mixtrack pro 2 and virtual dj
And being mandatory im not sure yet im not at that stage should be finding out tommorow, but most probably.July 3, 2013 at 5:58 am #41850Lamid45G
ParticipantIF using CDJ’s a mandatory, i mite as well leave the controller at home, save you the hassle, and just show up with your headphone and cd case
And IF this is the very first time you using the CDJ’s, eh I dont think it something that you can learn on the fly, kind of risky imo, since you need to know at least the inner working of the CDJ’s, and manual beat-matching

KeymasterAsk what equipment is in the club and how it is networked.
If the CDJs use USB sticks, prepare your music in folders.
Go to the Pioneer website and look up the CDJ that the club is using, they have high-res images. Look at those and you will know how to get along with it.If they allow you to bring your controller, bring the right cables and hook it up to their booth mixer, where usually a free channel is available.
If you know all these things come back to the forums here and tell us what you can use and we will help you further.
Follow the most important Terry 42 rules of DJing:
- Never panic
- Never hesitate
- Have Fun

ParticipantRelax and enjoy. If you can use jog wheels and pitch faders on your controller you can use them on cdjs.
