It’s tough out there bro. I was told a long time ago if things came easy you would not appreciate them. Ever consider starting out somewhere outside your area. Grow a following then try again. Also maybe try networking in with these people. Help out if needed.

That’s true. Thanks for the reply. I was feeling down and out. Since I acknowledge it hopefully I will be able to use it to motivate me.

This advice is not only for Dj’s but networking is huge. Hang in there and keep moving forward.

Hang on there bro..:/ It’s a warzone out there, but have faith and don’t give up, ‘coz if you do, the battle is lost. Like DJmDubs said, try networking.. Create an epic mix and get your friends to listen to it. Burn them on disks with your name and e-mail (or any other info) and spread it around. You gotta have passion for what you do.(:

Be true to yourself. You do not need to showoff mad mixing skills or produce just to get the right gigs.
It is far more important what and how you do things.

Sometimes weird things happen and will happen all the time…. I was a new regular on fridays main slot here and last friday I was axed by the manager (though the place was packed) he has a new DJane… 20 years old, blond, nice … you know what. She just does Top 40 and her only skills are to play a song and fade out / fade in, but she looks better than me, no doubt :O

Such things happen, I will not be demotivated by it 😉

I believe i know y ur starting to doubt urself (and this is just my opinion and i could b wrong) i believe u may have lost sight as to what should be a DJ’s TOP reason for DJ’ing in the first place……..seeing people have a good time. Regardless of what anyone says, thats it! I love playing a track and when that track starts people dam near blow up! They say shit like “dam, that was my jam back in the day”. All DJ’ing is, is playing the music people wanna hear. I dont care how many lights u have and how many cartwheels u do while DJ’ing……that aint important. If u can get back to wanting to see people blow up when u DJ, i gaurantee u will have ur victory. Now, with that said, how does one get back to that?

+ 1. It’s al about entertaining the crowd. If you manage to pull off and play music you like, too, then that’s the goal you should go after. As for sync this and that, controller this and that, those are just technical things the audience does not care about.
