hey Paul… just wanted to give you some feedback… like the mix, good track selection but on this one the gain issue seems more prevalent, like at certain points I thought someone was covering my speakers up – are you using the gains as an effect? cause if that’s the case the timing might just be off as it gets noticeable and a little jarring. 🙂

    just my 2 cents.

Hey thanks for the Feedback Gre! Ya I totallty agree. I was attempting to use the gain and EQ as effects but the timing was off. Main issue being me using a new controller I just purchased and the syncing of it was off causing a delay! It is noticed, and I shouldent be doing it again :). Really appreciate your feedback, Thanks!

I liked the tracklist, any chance you could post it? (sorry to bother you about this again but I recognize some of the tracks but can’t remember the names/artists)

You definitely have to explore other ways of making transitions (instead of doing basic intro – outro mixing try doing things like starting the transition from one song to the other before the breakdown of the first track and time it so that when break down on track A is coming up the breakdown of track B is coming at the same time…or as mentioned on the comment on your soundcloud link one build up into another)

Remember playing some tracks to long can make the mix lose its energy (in 30 mins you played 6 tracks, it should be some where around 10) but also remember that playing a track not long enough is bad either (as in you dont want to be playing a track for a minute and a half) — I think the best time most of the time to make a transition is when you feel the song is losing its energy. So sometimes you might have a track that you play for almost 4 mins, and sometimes youll have one that you play for only 2 minutes.

Also the songs that you use flow well together (as in they sound good together), but would be better if you tried mixing it differently

Hope this helps and remember practice makes perfect 😉 so keep on practicing and keep up the good work

    Yup, Of course 🙂

Blades of Glory – Song Scene
    Tornado- Steve aoki and Tiesto
Strobe (Special Features Remix) – Deadmau5
Gravity (Original Mix) – Cool Project & Jay Jacob
Niggas in Paris (DJ Enferno Remix) – Jay z and Kayne
Zero 76 (Original Mix) – Tiesto & Hardwell
Big Bad wolf – Duck Sauce (Dada life remix)

And thanks for the feedback Carlos. On the transitions before the song breaks down, I usually do that. I know for the first song I missed it and I think for Niggas in Paris I missed the opportunity so I had to wait :(. And Yes, I totally agree on the switching before the song gets dry. I read an article somewhere though that if you switch the song before the Second Chorus it is too jaring and some songs dont hit their 2nd Chorus till later. BUT I always keep an open ear and approve on what people say to so I REALLY do appriciate what ya have to say and will work on it, thanks bud! 🙂

thanks again for the tracklist and glad I could help, just remember not to play tracks for too longin a 30 minutes mixtape you probably wanna aim somewhere around 10-15 tracks

^^^ Yeah and no… Dancefloor your aiming for tunes to be playing about 3 or 4 minutes to keep the energy going *
but i always think a radio mix allows you to showcase a couple of the most blinding tunes, almost let them play out

    *
Caveat… on a trance / prog set there are times where the crowd wont want “That” tune to end… so ya play it to the death or even cue it up again in deck 2…

Thanks for the feedback U31! I just played a gig and I kept my music to about 4 mintues and the energy seemed to flow extremely well. Also, Ya I was talking to my friend about how a mix and playing live are completely different in lengths. I mean, listening to a song it gets old a lot faster but dancing the beat keeps ya going. Its kinda the whole doing something/ not doing something.

When you play back a recorded mix you have an option to fast forward or rewind if the tune gets old, on the dancefloor the crowd dont…

Once you understand that basic youre away…

In the 90’s i never recorded any sets or put out mix tapes, dunno why probably the same reason we dont have many photos of the nights, we just didnt think to do it!
When i started up playing again and this great invention of internet radio and cloud casts had come along, and i posted my first recorded mixes to mixcloud and soundcloud, i was playing like i was trying to get a crowd up (or gang of mates at an after- night party, lets not totally big meself up here 😉 ) Its what i always did so i carried on doing it
And because of that, those first mixes never sounded their best.

You can get away with murder playing to a live crowd, but a recording is ultra critical!

Wow, Thanks a lot U31! I really do appreciate all the insight and I really do follow it when it deems fit! I stuck to shorter songs (3-4) when I played on Friday and the crowd reacted amazingly well to it. Thanks again!

Hey Paul, definitely fixed the EQ problems on the other mix. Great job, looking forward to these weekly mixes. I know when I miss the cue for the next song I mini-panic and start running through the rest of the song in my mind like, “where’s the next out.” – usually this makes me wait for the outro section as usually those are designed to be mixed with.

Exactly! I miss it and I panic so I figure either mix mid beat section (Sounds bad, can work with the right songs), or wait till the outro. Thanks Gre! I appreciate the feedback.
