    Speakers: Every penny you spend is sound quality.
    There are a few exceptions:
    – The M Audio AV 40s cost 100 bucks, but are as good as some 200 bucks speakers.
    – The KRK Rockit series is not much below speakers double the price.

    But besides those 2 I have encountered very few surprises in monitors.

    ^^Definitely agree. Although have not heard the M-audio’s. But I have the KRK Rokit 10s sub. Delicious.
