I would recommend active speakers ( I ´have QSC k12 + QSC Ksub) because they are more portable and takes less space.
If you have a built in soundcard you should look for a controller with RCA outputs to get the best sound IMO.
You then put RCA cables between your soundcard to the active speakers….

I think active speakers are a good idea, but I also think two satellites and at least one subwoofer is advisable. Bass means a lot and gets soaked up very easily in big rooms, especially when they fill with people.

I’m there with Hessler. I have a pair of K12s I absolutely adore. They are wonderful. I would suggest those over anything else on the market. (The EV ones are second on my list, especially being able to use the 15’s and at that price, can’t beat it).

A controller and a macbook all day would work very well. My Advice would be to pick a controller based on what you feel is best. Go to your local Guitar Center or Sam Ashe or whatever and take the time to play with those controllers. I personally like the Xone:DX (because I have it and mixing on it is ABSOLUTELY FUN. Plus with some DNS-3700, brand new dimension to sound) but I’m eyeballing the new Pioneer stuff…

i got cheap sound setup but it works great for crowds of 50 or more, skytec 8″active pa x3 and a qtx 15″ active sub sounds the nuts in the avarege garden party and not to bad in a hall tottal cost was under £400, its not top notch gear but like i said it sounds the nuts to me
