Well that sounds to me like the cable or the connector of the cable has a bad soldering spot.
I would try another cable as the first solution.

I tried new RCA leads, no change.
I don’t have a spare USB cable though as it has the inline surpressor/filter thingy on it. My only spare USB cable does not have one of those. Is that still OK to use?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm seems a few people have had this issue before then.

If you run a PC then please use this:
    http://www.heise.de/download/dpc-latency-checker.html

    to check your latency.

If you run a Mac try another USB port and yes the other USB cable even without the balancers…
I had the same issue with my NI S4 and Traktor, because the USB connector wobbled in my Macs USB socket, as the connector was a little warped from the bag I had it in…

I run a 2 month old Macbook Pro Terry.
I had no latency issues on my 6 yr old Macbook before this one so I hope not hahahaha

I will try the other cable later and see if it makes any difference.

    Cheers

Well then we can strike the usual ASIO Windows stuff off the list of things.

Well I managed to dig out another USB cable, still crackles! I turned Latency to 2 rather than 1 and the crackles stopped as soon as I hit ‘apply’. So it looks like it’s a latency issue, not good for somebody who likes to scratch 🙁
Can I do anything else here, seperate power supply or more ram?
Not happy as my old MacBook handled the latency better than this new one!

It is still probably the USB firmware of the USB 3 port, however latency 2 you should still be good to scratch, I run 2 all the time. I actually feel not much difference between 1 or 2.
Did you try using a powered USB 2 hub?

I’ve not tried a hub yet no, it’s just another thing to plug in. Unfortunately I don’t have the space to leave it all set up on a permanent basis. #ballache
Thanks as always for your advise Terry 🙂

You were right Terry, not really any noticeable difference between 1 & 2 on the latency setting, problem solved…sort of 🙂
