Agreed. In noisy parts of the song when you are beatmatching, you can kill the mid and trebs and just see the baseline to make it easier to manually beatmatch. It’s always the not so known softwares that pioneer stuff like this!

Serious? What happened to mixing with your ears? We are in a sorry state if we need to “fix” waveforms in order to be able to do a beatmatch, seriously.

If you are gonna rely on technology to assist you in getting beatmatched transitions (and I am totally fine with that, I’ll use the sync button at times), then let the technology do the work, i.e. hit sync and be done with it.
On the other hand, if you have tracks that the technology can’t help you with for whatever reason, being able to manually beatmatch is a valuable skill (and frankly if you are gonna bother learning manual beatmatching, you should be able to do it without any visual reference, just your ears), as is knowing all kinds of transitions to use. There is no law in DJ-ing that you have to beatmatch every track. So if you run into a track that you think is not the best for a beatmatched transition, be creative and go another route. This keeps your sets fresh as well.

    Just my two cents.

Honestly, for me, it’s more about seeing the shape of the music better, and getting feedback on how the EQ affects the spectrum range.

(Though I am already adjusting EQ by ear and am happy with the result… it would just be a nice extra set of data.)

Oh, no doubt waveforms come in handy to determine parts of the track, a bit like you could see those on vinyl.

We don’t need to improve waveforms, it would be nice tho. Just like we don’t need to have a sync button, but it’s nice to know you’re covered in case of emergency.

In case of emergency you simply do not beatmatch and have another transition ready that works without beatmatching…

If you find use for them, great.

I’m more with Vintage. I just use my ears. I’m used to doing it that way.

The waveforms for me are mainly to see when breakdowns happen, or how far along in the tune I am…or even when cue points pop up.

    Having extra features doesn’t hurt

Is it true that Serato already has this? For what is probably obvious reasons, it’s the package I know the least about.

I can tell you the reason, there is no trial version (I think) and up til last year, there were only very expensive controllers and soundcards supported.

Yeah. From what videos I’ve watched, I don’t think it would match my workflow anyway. That said, while I tend to like Traktor’s workflow the best of what I’ve used, I am finding things about VirtualDJ that are appealing – however, that might be better as a new topic.
