What you could do is let it change the first effect based on wether the effect is single or group. So you’d have a condition that said if fx unit 1 is single, change fx1 to delay for instance.

If you select the assignment you made in the controller manager to change the effect you’ll see modifier conditions under mapping details. Then you need fx panel mode or something from the modifier dropdown list and set the value accordingly. You’ll need to do this twice, one for each change.
