Usually iTunes does that. But any software that does it is pretty bad at it in my opinion. So most of the time I have to re-tag.

All my tracks are tagged when I buy them. Not always correctly but they are tagged.

Usually I tag my tracks right after purchase, to avoid having a hefty amount of work later on.

    yeah me 2..

Download, Key Analyze, update tags, then import into DJ Software.

Ive tried a ton of different id3tag programs and tbh they ALLLL suck.

I doubt any tools or databases will properly ever recognize let’s say dubstep from brostep from drumstep from dreamstep from poststep from…… Or acid influenced tech house with glitch hop influences and so on…

I always make sure to tag my own genres. Especially because now adays there are some many different tracks that fit into different genres/sub-genres…so I usually can put tracks into multiple genres so when I search I can cross over between genres and still make it work…..I agree I find itunes to be pretty bad

In addition to the Genre tag in iTunes you could add as many keywords and tags in the comment field. I use it a lot in iTunes, #drumstep, #wacko-electro and so on and so on. The # tagging makes it easy to find the material later, iTunes or Traktor searches, smart playlists and so on. So iTunes is not crap, just need to learn to use it.

Yeah i do the exact same as Kent cept i use the Grouping field and add things like Banging, Peak Hours, Techy, Swing, Funky, Shuffle. anything to narrow my parameters of music for creating a playlist.
