Wow, sounds like I need to get down there. Not sure how it is in Canberra (given that I’m not old enough to go clubbing yet) but it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna be that great here.

I’d say there would be some good clubs, but yeah small population is gonna make it hard…Aston Shuffle are from Canberra so there must be some sort of house/electro scene.

Sounds like I should be able to survive pretty well then. Might come down to Melbourne some time in my gap year (2013) for a few weeks to check out the scene. I wanna try to use my gap year purely for working on my music career. Dream job, go!

I’ve heard they’re also very hard on piracy, and some clubs even use a program to scan a DJ’s hard drive to make sure his music is legal.

i’ve heard of dj’s being done in sydney and melbourne… but the hard drive scanning software in clubs is one i havent heard of before (and i doubt even to be true). There are inspectors (so i’ve heard) that will audit your collection if they think its suss and you cant provide proof of purchase – but this apparently happens in various countries around the world. We had a lengthy discussion on the DJ Tech Tools forums a while back.

Hello. I’m from Cebu, Philippines. Top 40 / Commercial rules here…but there’s a great portion of clubers that are into house music.

Yeah, when I lived in Manila, I remember it being largely hip / hop and commercial music – with the occasional techno nights or house nights here and there – this was when E was getting pretty huge with the kids, so I don’t know if it persevered past that or not.
