Go for it! Playing live is the best practice and is loads of fun, you’ll wanna throw up but it’ll be great. If you’ve got a basic playlist going thats a great start – all you have to do is practice your mixes, make sure your tracks are properly beatgridded and set up your cue points. As for the sound, I would ask if it’s possible to test the PA system… that way you can check the mixing board, see what kind of connection you’re gonna need (more than likely it’ll be a cable that you would also use to connect your iPhone on one end and a 1/4″ on the other end) and see how it sounds… and be prepared. You can run just from your laptops soundcard if you practice enough to the point that you don’t need headphones. If you do get a soundcard like and Audio 2 DJ that would be ideal but not necessary for a show like this.
