😀 @ buying used 1200s … It’s a bit superfluous as they stopped producing them a while back and you couldn’t buy new ones even if you wanted.

If you want spinning platters, there are some mediaplayer alternatives to SL1200s, like the Denon SC3900, that are worth checking out.

There should be plenty of controllers out there that do what you want. Then again, if it is financially feasible you might want to consider trading your current mixer in on a new one (serato approved?) that has midi function too.

Hope you get lots of replies = info on the subject.

Hey Chuck, I’ve already paid up for the turntables and just awaiting their arrival, so the Denons are not an option now. There are still new in box Technics out there but yeah you can expect they’re ridiculously expensive…

Back to the controller topic, I’ve seen several so far and weighing my options for something that is smaller and has an interface that’s simple and sensible for Serato’s workflow. The Akai LPD and Korg Nanopad are cheap and look like it will handle cues and loops with their pads, but that still leaves a way to browse your music away from the laptop.

Robert, nope, don’t have an iPad. Kind of lame it’s iPad only, because the app looks nice, and it would be the tightest integration with Serato I’d imagine. Just wish these companies don’t make us feel forced to buy more apple products 😛

damn i didn t know about the launchpad preset. Thats some good stuff, i wish there would be serato bridge for my mac osx 10.8 system. They should continue with that :/ this was a great idea.
Anybody have a video with the launchpad in serato action (no serato bridge)?

justchris, did you see the denon hc1000s or zomo mc1000? this are controllers just for cuepoints, tracksearching etc. 😉

I belive you still can buy unopened 1200s which is imho kinda new…I mean they were manufactured a while ago but they are still new….but yeah they cost helluva lot more than used.

Guys you are recommending controllers for Serato DJ… if he wants to use his Technics (aka as a digital vinyl system) he will need to use Serato Scratch Live. That is a whole different story…
I would recommend getting the cheapest rane soundcard that will allow you to use Serato Scratch and hook that up.
Then get a good solid, no strings attached, dual channel DJ mixer and run everything through the rane card.
Now you can use SSL but of course you still want some midi control. However SSL is very easy to midi map, so I would just get something that you fancy layout wise. For example back in the day I used cheap Korg pads.
