As far as I have been able to establish, there is no autoplay/automix/continuous play mode available in RekordBox DJ.

    Hi Kenneth,

I’m brand new in the DJing world and in this forum.

I just finished a Dj Course and bought my first ever controller (DDJ-RB) that came with a Rekordbox licence. Planning to play something at a NYE party with my friends, I was wondering exactly the same thing about continuous play (you know, for when you’re not actually mixing but mingling with your friends at the party and you want some music in the background..handy) and I think I stumbled upon the same topic where they led you to believe there was such function in Rekordbox. Well, I’m glad to say they were not fooling you because there is such function, indeed; it’s just quite hidden, let’s say.

So, you are in the default “PERFORMANCE” view of Rekordbox where you see all the DJyin tools to use while performing. Use the dropdown menu on the top left corner that says PERFORMANCE to select the “EXPORT” mode. The software will switch to the new mode, and here you would need to select either the “Show 1 player” view or the “Show simple player” view (1st and 3rd small icons just on the left of the volume slider on the top right corner); now if you play one track from one of your playlists, when this is over the next one will start. I’ve tested it on both views and it works; it doesn’t work in the 2 players view.

Even though this works, I must say it’s not great, because there doesn’t seem to be any further option such as shuffling or crossfading songs to avoid “blank” moments while transitioning from one finished song to the start of the other; it simply allows you to play the songs in your playlists and jump to the next when the previous one is done. If there are such functions, then they’re well hidden again.

Personally, for continous play I’d rely on a proper media player (iTunes has the crossfade function for example), as they were designed to play music like that; Rekordbox is a mixing software after all and was designed for a more hands-on approach.

Hope this helps and if I find anything else I’ll pop it in here; please do the same 🙂

    Cheers

Until Pioneer DJ do something about this I premix the playlist and play back the recording.

Yes currently Rekordbox has no autoplay, softwares that do are Serato, Traktor, Cross, VDJ and DJay.

As a way of an update, I actually found this functon in the software’s settings now. Not sure whether it’s new or not thougg.

“Preferences” — “Controller” — Tab “Deck”, option “Continuous playing” — Tick the box “Automatically load tracks in a list and have them play continuously one after another”

it works when using a DDJ-RB controller.
