    Damn If only I had the cash and the ability to get the time off work and could head that way. Nothing decent is happening with the music scene in Vancouver.

    So guys, tell me… What’s the scene like out west when it comes to more underground house and tech? I’m from Toronto where it’s always been pretty big, but Calgary has always struck me as a cowboy hat city. I always thought Vancouver would be pretty good though, high population city on the coast sounds like the right setup.

    The scene in Calgary is pretty awesome actually. Vancouver music scene is complete garbage lol…no offense steelo, but i used to live in Van 3 years ago and all my friends live out there….and well the scene sucks…its great if you like top40 hiphop and all the commercial cheesy crap but for the underground scene…its pretty brutal. I have actually been thinking about branching out to Vancouver with my Promo company as it seems there is higher demand for EDM out in Vancouver but that is quite a ways off from becoming a reality.

    Calgary has an awesome scene. All the local clubs usually have some great EDM…but like the rest of the world…this City is focusing on big name Producers to get people out to the clubs. A few DJs that have been booked here in the last 2 months are: Lucky Date, Hirshee, Lazy Rich, Organ Donors, Morgan Page, Tiesto is coming in a month or so, Wolfgang Gartner, Porter Robinson, Avicii, Calvin Harris in a month away, Arty, Sander Van Doorn, and this is just in the last 2-3 months!!!

    There are also quite a few real REAL underground places down here, and most of them are genre specific…Underground electro, Bass music, and REAL House music…not guetta or SHM or avcii garbage.

    There isnt many large venues that support the underground scene but that has been changing slowly over the last year or so.

    Yeah you’re absolutely right, the Vancouver electronic scene sucks. Your options are top 40, Skrillex or watching UFC. Way too many meatheads here. Lots of people hype up Van but to be honest theres nothing special about it at all…especially not the music.

    yeah…it really is a shame…i wish the scene out there was a lot bigger, i remember in the late 90s how the underground rave scene had erupted…having to goto Skytrain stations to get a phone number to find an underground rave usually in the docks of an abandoned warehouse…ahhh the good old times

    Hey its awesome to see another Calgarian! lol

    I spin @ Habitat, Quincys, Sals, TheBank, and Flames Central when we are opening for headliners!

    Raf and Michelle are pretty good shit at OMFG!

    I havent been to OMFG in forever as its filled with a bunch of kids!

    NO way!!! thats a lot of places definetaly got to let me know when you open for headliners I’d like to come support!

    yeah omfg is filled with a bunch of kiddies, the ones just coming out of highschool and the ones still in highschool carrying fakes XD. But I love the atmosphere at the place and overall the music they play haha
