I don’t have Serato (although I do have a 6-core AMD processor in my desktop), so can’t comment on specifics. But it seems that it’s a hit and miss situation when combining Serato and an AMD laptop/computer. There is quite a bit of info on the Serato forum, including some workarounds for certain issues.

So, it might work 100%, might work but slow or might not work at all.

It’s a known issue and unfortunately without any solution on the horizon (frankly I doubt much is being done about it).

    Good luck.

This is a general issue with AMD processors and DJ/music software.
Every software vendor (NI, Serato, Ableton, …) prefers Intel mostly due to how the chipsets work not the processor itself.
With AMD chipsets it is like Chuck said mostly hit or miss. It could work, but might not work at all.

When bought my sx I was running a dual Amd processor. I did get serato to run eventually after much effort but it was slow and not exactly stable. In the end I bit the bullet and bought an i7 16gb imac and never looked back. If you want you sx to run with as little hassle as possible I would recommend a mac of some description. But be aware there have been issues with Mac’s with certain graphics cards so I’m told
    Not sure which ones though.

To offer another angle, I use a five year old laptop with a centrino 2 by intel and Serato works just fine on that too. You don’t “need” a mac at all.

Ok… Risky… but i just ordered the Pioneer DDJ SX… will be here next Monday… if it doesn’t work properly, i’ll have to go and buy a new computer.

On a side note, and since i’m now a beginner at Digital DJing, is there any tutorials around for Serato… could use some tips on how to organize my music and what to do for the first steps as soon as i receive the machine. It’s probably worth mentioning that i’m using mixed in key as well.

Loads of stuff on YouTube by serato and other people. A good place to start would probably be to learn how to beat grid correctly and how to analyse tracks. If beat grids are out it can lend problems to yr roll and slicer and also sync if you choose to use it 🙂 njoy and have fun!

installed the software last night and started on the beat grid stuff… it appears to be very simple yet, so important. will go through my entire digital music library (not very big yet) over the weekend and make sure all is in place. I did notice there were quite a few tracks where the grids were a bit off towards the end of the track… and also, a number of tracks that do not start at the “1” or at the beginning of a bar/phrase… 😉

And did the controller+software work with your AMD-processor?
