Depending on the time period you play, automatic beat-matching can go down as low as 0%. Even today there are tracks that don’t react well to being beatgridded. Let’s say, for arguments sake, that on average you’ll get an 80% succes rate, that still leaves the points WHERE you start and finish mixing. This is something the software can not do for you.
So, 1 in 5 tracks you have to do manually (or limit yourself to using only the other 80%) and you still have to pick the place where you want to mix out of and mix into for all your tracks. Clearly if you do only back-to-back full tracks, it’s a little easier, but even there you can have vocals running til the end of the track and a new track with vocals in the intro. Those two things don’t mix.
Imho, beat-matching manually is still a very important skill to have and one you will use on a regular basis.
