I find the channel meters on Pioneer gear to be sloppy to say the least. I’ve even put the same song on two decks and watched the meters show different things. It’s been a problem I’ve had with them since the 600. I’m sure others will have better suggestions than this, but all I can offer is this — trust your ears. You know what it should sound like. If the meters don’t agree, so be it.

I have no problems with the meters on the SX, as long as I use only the digital decks. If I add external decks, even with identical signals on the meters, one is much louder than the other. Or at least it was, until I found out that I had to separately set the software gain correctly (using the master as 0dB as reference). Now they are all equally loud.

I do use Mixed in Key to gain my tracks before use. Much better than the autogain in the software (which I keep off).

Thanks for the tip! I own MIK 5 myself too, but how exactly do you gain the tracks with it? Or did you mean that you are using Platinum Notes?

    Cheers!
