I think I can answer a few of your question.
    1. Serato doesn’t have native key detection, only Cross and VDJ do. If Cross writes the Key in the ‘Key’ mpe tag field, then it will show up in serato but otherwise you have to use somesort of external software.
    2. It should be plug and go or you select the controller in the settings.
    3. Serato has some nice effects, a little complicated for me but everyone is different.

Try Intro for a little bit and see if the workflow works for you etc.

Just tried Serato and it works so easily! Even the effects are better by far in the Serato Lite version than in Cross DJ.
I think I”ll get the full version and add ‘mixed in key.’
I don’t know what it is about Cross DJ, but it seems harder to figure out, with little tutorials on youtube, and their website’s forum is honestly horrific. (I hate to say that, but I never heard back from them regarding a specific question, and was unable to make posts on the forum)

See if Mixvibes has a way to write the Key to the file. I know that in VDJ you can go into the edit file info dialogue for a song and have it saved. That way you don’t have to shell out cash for mixed in key.

Mixvibes shows you the key. I’m really enjoying Serato now, so even if I have to get the add-on it’s work it for me.
    Many thanks for your help.

I use key finder which is the program that Cross is using now, then save my tags with VDJ and it shows not only in Serato but Traktor also. A little bit of work but is very good and is free.

Indeed I use Serato and Mixed in Key and I am a happy DJ 😉
Do not get me wrong I like Cross and many of its concepts, but the way Serato DJ is coming along is just the way I like it.

Many thanks for the quick responses. I’m just loving Serato Intro and will spring for the full version. Going to take Phil’s course sometime next week. The WeGo is just the right size and has all the functions I need. Again thanks for the help on that too. I”m sure I’ll find something new to bug y’all about in the coming weeks.
    Cheers.

Yes…. of course, I can put my tracks I’m collecting in Cross and just get the keys sorted out that way!

    Cheers,

    James
