    hi Chris,

try to set the right settings for latency. Also you could change the waveform update speed.
is the CPU indicating hi loads (you can see in serato)? Is your laptop getting hot?

i had the same and use now a laptop cooler under mine to keep temperatures in check.

let us know if this helps.

    regards

If it only starts after 5 hours, it won’t be Latency issues – it will more likely be related to your laptop overheating slightly.

Check in power settings that the processor cooling is set to “Active” and not “Passive” – this will mean that the laptop will increase the fan speed rather than slowing the clock speed of the processor in order to cool it down. Of course, if you are running it really hard then it will overheat anyway – Generally things slowing down is a sign that you aren’t far away from an automated shutdown… My laptop shuts itself down once the processor hits 100 degrees C – which is really high (Don’t ask how I know lol…)

My laptop is fine for the majority of DJing – but if I am going to be doing a really intensive set (or DJing in a really hot room) then I will put my laptop on a cooling stand..

Try making sure that everything in the background is turned off – nothing that you don’t need whilst DJing (Antivirus, WiFi, Bluetooth etc..)

I use control panel to check what is running on my laptop to identify what I can disable.. Also download a tool called C-Cleaner which will tidy up all the windows files on your laptop and generally make it run better. It also gives you the option to control what opens on startup – which I believe the task manager in Win 7 doesn’t..

Although I never ran into as severe a problem as Chris’s, my previous (2010) MBP did get very hot and the fan would go crazy, so I bought this cooling fan and it worked out very well:

Let us know about your system please (what Laptop, OS version, external devices)… anything above is pure speculation.

I am with Terry on this one. Overheating after 5 hours? Seems relatively long if there is an actual temperature problem. Also the screen brightening is usually what happens when you switch from battery power to outlet power. So I wouldn’t rule out power related issues. Maybe a battery gone south?

Hi Mark, I’ll leave your post this time, but you should have created a new post!

As for your questions, they are typical Serato licensing problems and we are not a Serato forum nor their customer service. I would send an email to Serato stating what happened and giving them the relevant info (flip voucher code & serial number of the extra license).

I am sure they’ll sort you out.

Check to see if your computer has a setting to shut off the hard drive after a certain amount of time (usually in energy saver settings). Sounds to me like this could be the case. If so, set it to ‘never’.
