Thanks
If you are playing a Track in one of the Decks and hear a Drum Loop that you like; or a Vocal Sample that is interesting; you can press the ‘4’ or ‘8’ (from my Memory); which will Loop 4 or 8 Bars of the Loop you like; you can then Save this Looping Sample into 1 of the 10 Sample Decks at the Bottom of the Screen;
If you can’t see the Sampling Decks; there will be a ‘Show’ Option on one of the Drop Down Menus at the Top;July 9, 2011 at 12:38 am #3332mr stifffy
MemberThe way i use it, is i have a samples folder i can add amd play with… They automatically sync up but it depends what your style is i play electro so i dont really have a use its just fun to play with spesh to freestyle…but yeah what emma said… You can hit a loop upto 32 beats and just click where the song names are and drag that onto a sample deck.. It wont produce sound on the sample because it creates phasing but you can unmute the sample deck and drop the volume on the original or find your next sample to start a juggle routine 🙂

I bought Traktor Pro 2 only a month or so ago; but Disabled it and went back to Ableton; but from what you are saying there is a Cool Fun Element for me to Explore; so I will have to Install it again 🙂
I also have Many Samples now that like you I have Cut Up and put into Folders; and Drag them in (to Ableton) when I Choose; but I have still yet to learn how to Rewire Traktor to Ableton which should be Quite Easy (I Think :));July 9, 2011 at 12:57 am #3337mr stifffy

Yes the Sample Decks (10 altogether) will be at the Bottom of your Traktor Screen; but to ‘Show’ them you will have to go to File or Options Drop Down Menus at the Top of Traktor; and you will be able to ‘Tick’ what you would like to see; so instead of your ‘Browser’ in Traktor; the Sample Decks will show up 🙂

Membertheres only 4 per deck emma 😛 but all are configable to each deck meaning you can in fact have 16, 12, 8 or 4 sample decks at once, most people ive seen use A and B as normal decks then c and d as samples 🙂

ParticipantWhat I like to do is I have a row of buttons setup as my Super Sampler buttons.
Basically press it and it: Sets 4-8 Bar Loop (This depends on if shift is pressed or not) + Sample Play + Activate LoopWhat this does is grabs the next 4-8 beats and drops it into a sample deck and mutes it for later use, then deactivates the loop. This allows the track to continue on without anyone realizing I’ve been messing around trying to sample some loop.
I like to do this with synth or bass lines in the breakdowns and then bring them back to play out over the transition into the new song. When I feel like I need to spice things up a bit I hit un-mute and bring it back in. I will sometimes carry samples on from song after song only if it’s a very subtle drum loop or the like. Hope someone finds this useful.

MemberI have a workflow similar to bartboy’s method:
I’m pretty much mixing 2 decks at once but I have the sample decks to copy parts of tracks that I want to use to mix and then mix from the sample deck.
This frees up the current deck for a new track.
Its still something new I’m working on, I dont even have the mappings completely satisfying yet.
