Participantget the ddj sx. i was gonna go the s4 route but many people pointed out to me here that the ddj can do the same things and much more then the s4. A buddy of mine has a sx and uses a f1 with it and it just sounds plain amazing. Im gonna get a sx too since it looks like the ns7 II is gonna be to complicated to map to traktor due to lack of being able to have tight control of the motorized turntables. I use both serato and traktor and the sx is the best of both worlds.

Participantyes and no, i use my buddies if we are djing together (which is basically every weekend we are together so i get plenty of practice time on it) But ive played with basically all the other big name controllers like the ns6, ns7, s4, denon mc 6000 and others, testing them all out to see which one i want to settle on and the sx out showed them all. And im ordering mine this weekend after pay day lol. can not wait to get it.

Participantebay. amazon has a freaking 2-3 week wait on one. ebay you’ll pay a bit more but i had to order mine off of there and pay to ship it to japan cause im doing a base wide party in march for 800+ people and my mixtrack pro aint gonna cut it. So if you can wait do amazon. if you cant like me do ebay. and plus all the ones have free shipping for the U.S that i saw on there. So actually you may luck it out and break even with what it costs on amazon.

MemberHow long have you been using Traktor? I realize all DJ software pretty much does the same thing. But I feel once you’re used to a software system and have become comfortable with it, why change? It’s only going to mean extra time to adjust. Plus, you’d have spent money on now two professional-grade DJ packages. Have you looked at other controllers more geared towards Traktor?

ParticipantI havent really used it enough to say im profficient at it honestly. i started out on serato, and i tried traktor for awhile to see how the program compares. It is increadibly powerful and i like the remix decks and everything but like you said, i started out on serato so it was sort of hard to switch over. anyways i dont really do techno. I mix hip hop and many other things and i feel that serato is the easiest for doing that. as for controllers for traktor, all ive really used is the s4 and s2. both are AMAZING! for it. They control the software like its nothing. But honestly. there isnt anything that the s4 can do that the ddj sx cant do. thats why i went with the sx. Its $1000 but it is worth allllll the money.

MemberWord – so it sound like Serato is more your bread and butter, and the DDJ SX is supposed to pair very nicely with that. So it looks like that may be your best bet.
I’m still waiting on my S2/Traktor to arrive, so any advice I’m giving is just based off of research lol. But I’m curious to know, in your opinion, what makes one software package better for a certain genre than the other? Like you said, Traktor being better for techno, Serato better for hip-hop. I know you’re not the first I’ve heard that from …but I’d just like to know maybe the technical details of why people think that.

Participantok, well think about this. With traktor you have remix decks and samples that allow you to put in random custom sounds through out the song. when your djing hip hop i know plenty of people would be very pissed if you messed up baby got back with some lil jon Yeahs! in there for no reason and no corrolation to mixing in a lil jon song next, it would be pointless. But when you are mixing with techno those little sounds become a blessing. It allows you to liven up your mix. make it sound more “unique”. And also traktor has more effects with it. Now i dont really use effects to much but im gonna start when i get my sx cause serato dj has more to choose from than my old serato dj intro. But with those effects it makes mixing waaaay easier. Im used to just beatmatching, maybe lowering the bass on the old track and just praying it mixes well. But im being taught how to use the effects section of both softwares and it makes mixing sooo much better. Like my boss was playing starships by ncicki minaj, and he was told by the manager to slow it down cause people needed to start leaving. So he pulled up sexual healing and the echo effect. he started echoing out starships and just drop in sexual healing and it sounded amazing. He dropped 30+bpm to the next song but it still sounded awesome. So im defiantly going to start learning how to use the effects and you should too. they are a blessing to all dj’s lol. hope this helped.

Don’t know you, don’t know your skills but the equipment doesn’t make the DJ.February 4, 2013 at 12:08 pm #36157af.shawn998
Participantno i meant i dont have enough hook ups for all the speakers. and my adapters wont work on my mixtrack for some reason, so i had no choice but to upgrade. i would do it with the mixtrack pro if i could but i just cant. and dont worry, i totally agree on your second part.
