One thing to watch with that design of case is how heavy they are. They’re kind of old-school design – undeniably sturdy but hardly refined, modern and forward-thinking like the S4 itself – it’s basically a big, covered plywood box with heavy metal attachments and a great big clasp to keep it closed. Roadies would nod their heads in approval; but I think you need something smaller and lighter for the S4.

Well then, thats set. I used be a roadie after I finished school! For me, weight isnt an issue, durability is. The S4 won’t be used in a club/bar type environment, rather in a mobile set-up. Basically the controller has to withstand being constantly moved (mostly to/from my car), which is why I want a roadcase, not a soft bag.

So guess my original questions still stand 😀

Yeah, the case is HEAVY. Definitely solid though. The laptop stand will slide right off unless you flip down this plastic clip thingy to hold it steady. You’ll want to keep it with you though, because it has a piece of foam velcro’d under it to hold the S4 in all the foam padding it sits in down the bottom. The “bottom” has rubber feet on it, so it’ll stand on the lid pretty firmly. I’d be worried about what the lid is sitting on. The rim of the lid isn’t exactly designed for sitting firmly like the rubber feet are.

If you want any detailed pics of the case, just ask and I’ll get some for you.
