I’m not sure you can do that with rewire, that is more for allowing a deck on vdj to control the transport of the DAW and have the sound all route through vdj.
You might have to use jack to route the sound into ableton separately and use ableton as the master out to your speakers.
Are you aware that vdj can host vst’s on pc so you don’t need a DAW to run them. If it’s an ableton effect you want there are usually free alternatives on the net, the only one i’ve never found a suitable vst copy of is the beat repeat, but you can do similar things with tex_zk’s “granular” or chackl’s “beatgridV2”. To make vst’s work just paste the .dll in
c –> username –> my documents –> virtual dj –> plugins –> sound effects
another limitation is you can’t make vdj ignore a controller so ableton can recognize it, this will be fixed in VDJ8 though.
