Honestly the Reloop gear works very well.
The thing is that compared to other manufacturers they are not censoring their forums.
Most people that come to forums to whine did something very wrong to begin with and want a fix via a forum that could only get fixed by customer support.
Some end because Nils from customer support takes over and talks directly to the people. The first thread you posted for example is a problem of the users computer, I am 99% sure, not the TM4.

So as hard as it may sound: If you have no clue about DJing and buy a complicated controller, chances are you get frustrated and some of those end up posting on such forums. If you are running a computer from 1996 and expect things to work flawlessly… you get frustrated that you have no money to upgrade and post on the forum…

We have the same thing sometimes on this forum (for all controller manufacturers) and I have to admit I delete such posts immediately as I dislike bashing.

Some other forum that will remain unnamed does not do this and if you look at it you will find the same amount of posts bashing the Pioneer DDJ-SX (which is an excellent controller), the Numarks and so on.

So letting your decision sway because of some postings some people that you do not know make out of frustration… not good.

As for the TM4. I have mine now for over a year, I have played at least 20 or 30 gigs with it, have upgraded the firmware twice (which is quite complicated on a mac) and have used it from about 0°C in a winter outside gig to about +40°C this summer. It has been abused by so called sound engineers, I have transported it in my almost unpadded messenger bag etc. etc. and it still works flawlessly. (And I am in no way sponsored by reloop… sadly.)

Aaaaah that’s what i wanted to hear Terry, i know you had already told me your TM has been great to you. I think i just got a bit scared as it is a lot of money i will be spending, and don’t want to make the wrong choice as i doubt i will get that sort of spare cash again in a hurry haha. And i am a Mac user, not liking the sound of the tricky firmware updates hahaha
    Thanks Terry

    Sean.

Just follow their guide for mac users… I did not take the time to read it at first and that made it tricky 😛

Of course as with all manufacturers there is always a chance you get a lemon, but as with every other manufacturer your warranty should take care of that immediately…

I own a TM4 aswell had it since first released in UK which was May last year, i’ve not had a single problem with it, and if it broke tommorrow i’d buy another. And i too have had no problems updating firmware…..if you follow instructions properly firmware update should go smooth.
I agree with Terry that the negativity on reloop forum is most likely due to people either not following firmware upgrade instructions correctly, or they have tried to reset the controller and didn’t do that correctly either.
And always remember that any product can have faults it’s just that it seems to be all the people that do have a faulty product post and complain on forums, but all the people who are happy with the product a very small amount or perhaps even none of them post about how happy they are, so therefore we see more complaints than praise.

I’m saving up for a Numark NS6. Great feel on the platters as well as many features with a slick and sturdy build. I also love Itch, so I’m saving up for that.

Yeh i looked at Numark, but the size of the jog wheels compared to the Reloop just dont do it for me. Being a (wannabe) scratch dj the bigger the wheels the better. The build quality on the Reloop gear is also very good being German.

another (former) tm4 owner. nice bit of kit, no problems with reliability. I only sold mine to get a traktor controller as the traktor mapping wasnt amazing. replaced with another reloop unit though as I really liked the TM4
