    1) I don’t think so, you actually have to register with them to get a key (or at least you did til the previous version)
    2) None that I know of.

Best bet would be to use the CDJs as HID-controllers. In Serato this requires a Serato-compatible soundcard or mixer. Mixvibes Cross for example let’s you do this out of the Box. I am a Cross user and have used CDJs like that plenty of times. It’s nearly plug and play and setup is 5 minutes tops. Suddenly you have the best of both worlds imho. DJ Software and high end controllers.

Then again, if you install your RekordBox on a machine without internet access (don’t think you need to be online to run the program … anybody?) and you only use your stick there and on the CDJs (which are typically not internet connected either 🙂 ), what are the chances of any of your info being shared?

The moment I drag my iTunes library into the rekordbox application for example. OK, let´s do this with LAN and WLAN turned off. But who knows my computer doesn´t send my tracklist as soon at it is online the next time?

I´m bored of reading EULAs of every country pioneer thinks of sending data to.

Im thinking of buying an XDJ R 1, because I want the flexibility if someone brings a CD (and as a backup). I like the classic set and that the audience actually sees what I´m doing. I also like the contemporary browsing possibilities via iPhone and remotebox. All other browsing possibilities on controllers are outdated in my opinion (even S8 and NV). We are used to touchscreens and “spotlight” nowadays ;-]

The other solution would be a laptop screen to browse. But I don´t want to “check my E-mails” on a set. Maybe I should put the laptop in my back same way as a crate back in the old days…

If you like mixvibes. Does it work with the R 1?

Finally, Pioneer answered how data is collected via rekordbox / kuvo:
