If you are using Traktor with that mixer you should be able to use the mixer with its own audio interface and record directly inside Traktor (check the record page in the settings). If you’re simply using the laptop to record then check the input settings are correct & the software driver for the mixer is installed. Alternatively you could simply run an RCA- headphone jack cable from the master 2 output on the mixer into your laptop; this would work with the laptop’s in built sound card.

One way would be to take an RCA to mini-jack cable and connect master 2 out to the input of your laptop and use that for recording in Audacity.

If you read the specs you SHOULD be able to record directly from the USB port, but it doesn’t say how. Also, this mixer was made to work with Traktor, so possibly they mean you can use the Traktor record option. In that case I am assuming you’d have to set things to internal mixing in order to get all the controls to do useful stuff while you are mixing.

Hope someone with the same kit can help you further.

Thanks for all of the replies! Unfortunately I still cannot figure this out. I have the RCA cable but it is not being recognized by my computer. I would like to avoid traktor as it is not my first choice (I just feel a little bit limited with trakor – but that is a whole different discussion for another time)

If anybody has any insight as to what I may be doing wrong with my RCA to headphone cord please let me know!

When I open up the audio manager on my laptop it just recognizes the cord I’m using as an output.

Well it would if you have it hooked up to a headphone jack on your laptop, as that IS indeed an output.

The RCA’s going into the master 2 OUTPUT on the mixer, you want the mini-jack going into the input on the laptop. This is usually marked with a little microphone symbol. If there is a colored ring around it, it would typically be pink (I know, right!).

If you have a really heavy weight laptop (or a PC with a sound card), you MIGHT have a line input, which is preferable to use. However, 90+ percent of laptops will have only two connections, headphone and mic.

    Hope that helps.
