With channel levels the DDJ SR seems like the thing to go for.

Thanks for your input Terry, I managed to get myself a cheap Traktor S2 Mk2 off ebay brand new! so will give it ago and see how I get on although I still really fancy the DDJ SR its just the thought of moving to new software (Serato) as I am really only getting the hang off Traktor after the last 8 months!

I assume if I do move to Serato id have to re beat grid my whole music collection?

I transitioned from Traktor (had an S4) to Serato (with a Terminal Mix 4) about a year ago and have to say the transition was really easy and I fell in love with Serato as I suddenly had so much more time mixing and not hassling around with mappings and the huge options menu…

Its something I am going to have to look into, Im never going to know how good/bad Serato is until I try it myself.  I’ve seen it in action and in comparison to Traktor at first glance it does look very basic and less complex.

I will go with the S2 for now as I got such a good deal on it, though I am still very much interested in the DDJ SR and will look at the reviews once its out! if I had the room id be after the DDJ SX! but again I wouldnt use the extra channels.

Is the beatgridding process any easier in Serato?

Well beatgrid is one of the things where Serato outdoes Traktor in any way… all I say is “flexible beatgrid” so it also works with songs that change tempo constantly and only very rarely do I have to adjust the beatgrid manually.
