I really don’t know…but I’d probably more likely trust iTunes.

Many labels pulled up their old masters to make files for Apple.

In the end, I’d just take a risk. You’re only out a dollar or two if it’s bad. Plus I wouldn’t get too insane on audio quality. Trust your ears first and foremost, and remember most patrons aren’t going to notice the tiny details.

I recommend iTunes also. Apple (if converted by Apple directly) does not add anything in terms of compression. I have classical music from iTunes that I had previously on vinyl with huge dynamics and the iTunes AAC plus sounds to me the same.

Thanx guys, the reason I really wanted the highest quality possible is because I take after my father with music and DJing and such,.so I adppted his mentality of lossless file preference, but if iTunes can be trusted then iTunes it is

Logically from the label or distributor the digital track should be off the master (tape or more likely digital) not the dubplate. But mystifyingly I still find new releases that were ripped from the dubplate as when you beatgrid you can see the drift back and forth. For best quality on tracks that don’t have normal wav, flac or aiff releases see if you can hunt down the CD.
