Nah, the CDJs should be set to “stutter” using the cue button, actually it’s a CDJ finger exercise to stutter the CUE button, then hold it and while the track plays hit PLAY to prevent it from jumping back.

It sounds like you are using your CDJs as Timecode/DVS players. In which case PLAY/PAUSE behaviour could be different from what it is in full midi mode, HID mode, hybrid mode or obviously playing plain old CDs.

I am not well-versed enough on the combination CDJ2000/Serato in DVS setting, so I hope someone else can help answer this one.

Large Festival = large booth = tech support.
So take your SX, let the tech plug it into the AUX channel of the DJM2k and be done with it.
Have a backup USB stick just in case something does go wrong in the CDJs, which are hopefully linked.

About the jumping back issue, what are you using to connect to Serato? An SL box? Timecodes?

If you’re going to play with your DDJ-SX at a big venue, I absolutely agree with Terry_42 but I want to add one vital thing to your to do list: buy yourself a spare USB cable and AUX cable for your controller, you can never know what happens.

Every large festival I was at, spare cabling was already layed out in the booth to a secondary stage mixer to be switched over at a seconds notice. If you are at a large festival you can assume that the tech crew is not on their first barbecue.
