It sounds like you have minor CPU usage spikes that cause momentary glitches to the playback. Disable all the stuff you don’t need running when you are DJing – background utility programs, stuff that automatically starts when Windows start, auto-detection-of-x-hardware things, auto-updates of rarely used software, antivirus, firewall. Also, check the advanced power configuration settings – make sure that none of the power saving features boggles down your PC such as USB port disabling, CPU idling, hard disk idling and whatnot.

ya phil morse had a good suggestion… before starting your session just give your computer a reboot, then when it is done rebooting just load what you need for DJIng and nothing else… that includes wifi off.

Hey … sounds like a problem I just solved for somebody else here. He had the same probs. The solution was in the correct latency settings. Too much to type the answer, but if you have Skype and we can use Teamviewer I can help you through it.

I agree with using a laptop/PC only for DJ-ing purposes, in fact I tell people that it is often better to go dual-boot. However, with the powerhouse you have (the AMD 6-core is pretty fierce), CPU-power should not be the problem. I am putting my money on latency settings.

I’m one for jumping to conclusions of serious issues with things, computers, motorbikes etc and often forget, and have to have the simplest things pointed out to me, so I mean no offense here, but have you checked it isn’t the files you are playing that are maybe corrupt?

It seems to be an odd problem. It happens when playing music through the built-in laptop and through the S4. We pretty much checked everything, eliminating just about most of it. The laptop makes noises too, even when not playing music.

So, either hardware failure (but it wouldn’t be in the sound card) or it is just Windows 8 (arggghhhh) acting up.

Thanks for the tip though. It is so obvious that it could easily be overlooked!

I appreciate the question and i thought that at first. But i got that “robotic” noise when i was watching YouTube videos as well. So i believe its my pc.

Drivers or codecs? To be honest I know nothing about Windows 8, but in the past downloading Codecs for file types that for some reason Microsoft didn’t support very well helped me… K-lite codec pack etc

If it were drivers it would mean both the driver for the NS4 (it uses the correct drivers for that, we checked last time) and the driver for the laptop sound card are both wrong. Possible, but not very likely.

Codecs could have to do with content on stuff like youtube, but that would not explain it happening when using Traktor as codecs don’t come into play there.

It seems a lot of people are having this problem with Windows 8
